The year is 2022. America is on the verge of economic and social collapse. The government has made individual freedom its enemy. African American hacker Isse Corvus enters a black-ops training camp. He discovers the leaders are revolutionaries seeking to return the U.S. back to its Constitutional roots. Soon the camp fractures. Who is traitor? Who is patriot? Corvus learns that if he doesn’t join The Cause and help them hack the NSA’s servers, it could mean his life. If he joins, he becomes part of a conspiracy to overthrow America’s financial oligarchy.
NSA Director Titus Montgomery is building a system to pacify America’s instigators. He is told by the President rule of law must be maintained at all costs. What happens when martial law meets revolution?
The Cause is a dystopian thriller taking many topical issues to the next logical level. The dense web of the NSA’s previous generation’s surveillance system has been supplanted by a new, more ruthless one. Robotic warfare, drones, quantum computers, Anonymous, the NSA, and a cast of conniving characters, this novel takes you on a manifest journey on how a new revolution could be born.

Vincent is especially adept at blending his ambitious seriousness with a fast-paced action-adventure tale that is often vicious and graphic, especially in the Abattoir chapters. He paints extremely vivid settings, whether in the primitive jungles or the high-tech underground headquarters of the Minutemen. He presents a very believable cast of characters, many of whom we see evolve into cunning and merciless warriors. Perhaps the best thing about The Cause is that it's clear it's only the first book in a series. Certainly, we'll get to see how the new revolution progresses, but hopefully we'll also see some of the characters return and develop relationships suggested in The Cause. Hopefully, the second volume will come out before any of the circumstances in The Cause move from speculative fiction into fulfilled prophecy. Reading the first chapters alone should chillingly suggest Vincent's dystopia isn't that far-fetched. ~ Dr. Wesley Britton, Bookpleasures : http://www.bookpleasures.com/websitepublisher/articles/7327/1/The-Cause-Reviewed-By-Dr-Wesley-Britton-of-Bookpleasurescom/Page1.html#.VI8adSvF9rl
In The Cause, Vincent extrapolates our current social and political milieu into a smart, muscular dystopian thriller set in the not-too-distant future, with prose that cracks like lightning and reads just as fast. ~ Robert Barclay, author of Melal
It's epic, ambitious, powerful and inventive with big themes of liberty, oppression, resistance and revolution. There's a topicality that is very relevant--the corruption of government and bankers, state surveillance, the violation of privacy, the all-pervading manipulation of the Internet, the data entrapped world we live in, the questions of patriotism and just cause, the legitimate means of resistance and rebellion. There's a seriousness that isn't undermined by the ballsy action sequences or the sheer entertainment of fights, skirmishes, hijacks, and the visceral horror of the survivalist scenes at The Abattoir. ~ Martin Fletcher, former editor of Douglas Coupland (author of Generation X)
