As I kept reading the overall messages began to sink in and stick with me. In Blissfully Dead, Melita takes us beyond our realm of existence to see evolution of consciousness from the other side—that is, from the perspective of a soul (identified as Janelle) who after committing suicide is no longer in a body. Janelle is blissfully happy in the afterlife but also passionate in her desire to communicate with the living realm through medium Melita. Janelle shares her connection with other souls and we begin to appreciate that even after death the soul continues to learn and grow. As Janelle grows, so does Melita. It was hard to realize that even though Janelle seemed to have every thing in life she still couldn't stay and learns so much more about it when she was dead. The book made me think so deeply about what it means to be alive and how we continually great drama and crisis, problems and aversions and how much do they really mean when we are no longer here-how blissful it would be to know that while we are alive, to just breath and love our life. I don't know another author who describes with this much detail how the person who died feels or thinks and how they see us from the other side. Some of the information the author obtained from Janelle - a spirit who committed suicide - astonished me. The publishing of this book coincided with my mother's passing, and I was only a few pages in the book when I learned about certain people with dementia already partly living on the other side. I was speechless, because my own mother had dementia-like symptoms at the end of her life and she saw people in her room who were invisible to me. I could have taken it as a symptom of her brain cancer, but I had a strong feeling these beings were real, and now I know I was right. She was half living on the other side already. This was only on piece, but Blissfully Dead is full of thought-provoking information, like that spirits can have remaining personality, emotions or issues to work through. Some information is surprising and teaches us how to live our life. I found this book to be thoughtfully written on a subject matter that inevitably touches all of us at some point in our lives. It answered many questions I had about life and death and the other side. I found much comfort in the writings on suicide having known people who've passed this way, leaving many questions unanswered for the family and friends left behind. I would recommend this book to anybody who has lost a loved one or simply wants to know what's on the other side of this life. I read Melita's book not long after my Father passed away, and my Mother had passed only 18 months previously. For me it was the most comforting experience to read what happens when our beloveds pass over. I think everyone should read it as it is a gentle and yet powerful source of comfort that reminds us just how close we still are with each other and that we are never really truly apart.
