Digital Consciousness
Explaining the world's greatest mysteries.
Explaining the world's greatest mysteries.
Explaining the world's greatest mysteries.
Future studies, Metaphysics, Quantum theory
What could be a more compelling read than a book that explains the greatest mysteries known to man in one fell swoop. Who is God? What happens after we die? What the heck is quantum entanglement? Why did Dolly’s braces disappear in the movie "Moonraker?"
Our reality is not what it appears to be. The latest physics experiments demonstrate that an objective reality doesn’t exist. And no one truly knows what consciousness is or where the mind resides. Strange interconnectedness, anomalous events, and changing histories confound even the most open-minded of scientists. No single theory seems to be able to explain it all. Until now.

I admit I wasn’t sure what I was going into with this book (and that I don’t know anything about the author or his previous work). I requested it thinking it was a science-fiction novel, and of course realised it wasn’t one after the first couple of pages. This said, it turned out quite interesting and intriguing in terms of ideas and points developed.................It’s probably a lot of speculation, but the arguments used throughout the book do make sense, too, so there’s definitely a part of me that won’t discard them. ~ Yzabel Ginsberg , NetGalley
Well-written book on the concept of reality and our understanding of what is and what is not. With laser-like precision, Jim successfully expounds upon his thesis and presents a stunning exposition on the redefinition of reality. With an extensive bibliography, Digital Consciousness casts itself as a comprehensive introduction to the concept of noetic sciences. Why? Partly it is the intellectually dense text, yet it is also the novel method in which he presents the content. The questions posed as titles and headings throughout the text encourage the reader to see and experience reality in a new way - to utilize rare and not often tapped connections and networks. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy deep thinking. Further, for those readers who enjoyed the deeper meaning behind Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol will immensely enjoy this text. https://theliteraryapothecary.blogspot.com/2019/02/book-review-digital-consciousness-by.html ~ Erica Watkins, The Literary Apothecary
In his new book, ‘Digital Consciousness: A Transformative Vision’, Jim Elvidge provides a persuasive answer to the great questions of life and existence...In bright and breezy prose, he unravels the abstruse tangles of consciousness studies to advance the cause of post-materialism in our world-view. ~ Geoff Ward, Medium.com
"Digital Consciousness" is an excellent read...a it's a story that needs to be told. We are all facing a future where automated intelligence will become increasingly challenging for humans, and frightening to some of us (perhaps most of us). Some of us are even questioning whether an objective reality actually exists. Other research shows a clear development of cognitive intelligence among many species of animals on our planet. Why should we not see that phenomenon occur in complex digital memory banks. This is a thoughtful, and thorough analysis of the phenomenon of intelligence as it is emerging in non-biological systems. I found it well worth reading, and bought my own hard copy. It's a "Keeper" ... and a book worth reading more than once! ~ Bonnie Jacobson, NetGalley
The book starts with an analysis of the scientific method and shows it loopholes. Then it discusses the popular frameworks of "Digital Philosophy" and "Digital Physics", which more or less suggest that we're living in a computer simulation. Elvidge presents a different alternative in imitation of Thomas Campbell's "Big TOE" and Steven Kaufman's "Unified Reality Theory", namely that existence is by nature digital and rooted in consciousness. If you're already familiar with Kaufman and Campbell, it is difficult to find the novelty here, but if you look for a more succinct summary of the concept, this book is a good start. The next part of the book tries to convince you of the idealist philosophy as opposed to the materialist philosophy. Whereas in essence I agree with this point of view, I consider that the wealth of data Elvidge presents on OBE's, NDE's, reincarnation and paranormal events, distracts from the theme the title promises and that this approach is too esoteric to my taste. Those who already believed in these points of view might get here some confirmation, but the unbelievers will not be convinced and likely put the book away at this point. Elvidge brings in a lot of physics, especially quantum physics to prove his points and tries to convince you that the most plausible framework to explain both our observations from these fields of physics and the supernatural is the "digital consciousness" concept. For those well versed in physics, his detailed explanations can be skipped, but for laymen Elvidge does a good job in explaining. Near the end of the book, it did find some worthwhile ideas as regards evolution in conjunction with reincarnation. Elvidge proposes the system of reincarnation as a means to accelerate evolution. Within one life one can learn only a limited amount and the learning curve is asymptotic: when you're young you learn fast but the older you get, the more your learning starts to plateau. Immortality in the same body is then not something to strive for, because it will end in a tedious plateau without any further evolution of your abilities. Repeated reincarnations could help here to accelerate evolution, as every life starts with a fresh boost of learning. Another point which I appreciated was the notion that it is difficult to change and evolve established complex systems; every change may have huge consequences. Better to have a fresh start on a regular basis to allow further tweaking and fine tuning. ~ Antonin Tuynman, NetGalley
A fascinating read that I want to intergrate into my teaching. Students will also engage with the book completely, although some will need me to break some of the concepts down. ~ Han Hunter, NetGalley
In this amazing book, Jim Elvidge presents powerful evidence that this seemingly physical universe is, at its purest level, created out of digital information. This revolutionary new understanding of the inner-workings of reality has been around for a few years but in this much needed book Jim takes the reader through a systematic, and jargon-free, review of exactly why more and more scientists are accepting that the present materialist-reductionist paradigm is about to be replaced by a far wider, and all-inclusive model of reality whereby consciousness, as the interpreter of digital information, becomes central. Digital Consciousness is an essential primer into the great paradigm-change that awaits us in the next few years. In short, if your head does not spin after reading this book you have not understood it! ~ Anthony Peake, author of Opening the Doors of Perception
