A great resource for self-reflecting exploring the ‘mechanics’ of your psychic self, this is drawn from the author’s solid basis of personal knowledge and experience. ~ Jan Morgan Wood, Sacred Hoop
Described both as "a psychic handbook" and "a definitive guide to living and working with the unseen" this book does exactly what it says on the front cover. Poppy Palin has a rare talent - the ability to communicate clearly, succinctly, and vividly. Her writing is nicely NOT New Age, and certainly isn't fluffy - but it IS, above all, immensely practical. In describing the quantum world of energy and spirit, she uses images that are immediate and highly effective - for example electrical extension leads as a metaphor for the role of "power" animals and spirit guides! Not only was I entertained by her book, I also found myself admiring the deceptive simplicity of her straightforward approach which is obviously the product of much tried and tested hands-on experience. Many of the channelled messages that open each chapter are thought-provoking and poignantly beautiful .... and are also refreshingly absent from parades of personal ego. At £11.99 Spiritwalking represents great value for the wealth of information crammed into its 380+ pages. It is definitely a book to dip into and use as handy reference material on all beings seen and unseen - as well as ghosts, unwanted intrusive energies, and (literally) things that go bump in the night! It is clearly (and honestly) a work in progress, as the author freely admits that she is continuously "discovering new and exciting aspects of the spiritwalking process ..." Many of the early stages in this "how to do it" manual will be immediately recognizable to those of us who are painstakingly working through the OBOD Gwersu - although that in itself is comforting in its familiarity. There is, after all, not a lot of practical difference between manifesting an internal sacred grove or, as Poppy more prosaically terms it, an astral office. I'm sure I would have found this book invaluable during my training in the energy medicine of homoeopathy. It certainly would have made some of the concepts of dynamic interaction an awful lot easier to understand in my (then) much more literal brain. These days I'm very much more at home in this territory - but Poppy's down-to-earth definitions and explanations provided a few "Zen" moments, several chuckles, and a treasure trove of handy, graspable images .......... I mean, how does one go about the challenge of discussing soul retrieval with non-shamanic friends and daughters-in-law, getting in all the salient points before their eyes glaze over? ~ Chris Hurst, Druid Network
