We are energy; our bodies, as well as all matter, are merely slowed down energy. We all have an energetic body that houses all our memories and experiences of all our lifetimes. We absorb energies from our families, our previous incarnations as well as from the culture in which we live. These energies often mask who we truly are and may block us from developing our true potential. Ways to recognize and work with these imprints are at the heart of the book.
The Energetic Dimension offers a new paradigm for the West as to how we function as humans. It is a paradigm that is intuitively known by us but has not to date been articulated as it has in this book. This book explores the energetic web in which we are encased, ways to cultivate its strengths, and heal and remove the negative aspects of unwanted energies. The goal is to be able to shed the layers that block us from experiencing our core essence and who we truly are.

4 Star rating: The Energetic Dimension is written for people who are already familiar with non-traditional ways of looking at the world, namely that we are all energetically interconnected. If you're uncomfortable with the idea of consciousness and reality being made up of energy, energetic healing, talk about spirit animals and spirits, then you will not be comfortable with this book. It is best for people who are familiar with alternative outlooks and it focuses on spiritual healing. .......It is not just hurt and trauma that is discussed, but also being brought up in dysfunctional environments or being bullied, slighted. The author claims that feelings of worthlessness may be "inherited" - like being raised in a home with domestic violence will often shape either a victim, or a punisher, or both, and it makes these behaviors repetitive - people who come from abusive homes may be more likely to get into abusive relationships of their own, and unless the cycle is broken, the healing will not commence. And so, ancestral energy imprints, family patterns are an impediment to being our true selves, and they are often the things that make us experience unnecessary pain and suffering. Then there are the protective walls we may have built as children which are stopping us from further progress, or there may also be traumatic events that have shaken us up and changed how we see the world. .........All in all, it was an interesting read and it gave me some good material for thought. ~ Evelina AvalinahsBooks (Reviewer) , Goodreads
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. I did not know what to expect with this book. I am always looking for books on energy work, so I chose to read this one. I got a lot more than I bargained for. I learned how we can carry energy from our parents and ancestors. There are energetic strings attached to others that can be leeching our energy. The author does an amazing job of explaining the topics listed below. Part 1: A Path to Wholeness Part II: Working with our Ancestral Imprints Part III: Understanding Our Karmic Imprints Part IV: Cultural Imprints: The Lens through Which We See I would (and have) recommended this book to anyone interested in energy work, karma and healing. ~ Dawn Thomas (Reviewer), NetGalley
5 out of 5 stars: This book is awesome, gripping, and golden. Ann Drake has been a mentor to me and to my family for the past 20 years. This powerful book has provided excellent case studies, personal anecdotes, and superb guidance for healing. I'm a psychotherapist and feel grateful for the gift of learning from teachings as captivating and heart-oriented as these. Many, many of these pages stood out as poignant and I look forward to returning again and again to them! ~ Daniel Cooper, Amazon
5 out of 5 stars: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and as soon as I finished it, it went straight into my re-read stack. It's that good! Ann has a artful way of illustrating complex energy concepts and their function within humanity. Not only did I find this book helpful in illuminating how and why we experience suffering in our modern culture, but I also gained practical tools to help me on my own journey of healing my negative imprints. Now that I understand the way in which energy imprints us, which this book explains through many examples, I feel deeper compassion for myself and others as we are all navigating this life together through the impacts and impressions of our families, culture, and soul memory. Don't hesitate to pick up a copy of this book... or several to give to your loved ones so they can get on the same "page" and know the importance of understanding how to navigate the energetic dimension with skill and self-compassion. ~ Marissa B, Amazon
Ann M. Drake once worked as a psychotherapist. This book is about modern Shamanism, a theory that every kind of trauma can take something of the soul of the individual. This book is quite informative. It's well written and extensively covers the subject matter. You need to read this book with an open mind to fully appreciate it. They say you learn something new every day, well I learned lots from this book. ~ Louise Wilson (Reviewer), NetGalley
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars. I loved this book! It was very engaging and informative. The author had a way of speaking as if she was talking directly to you. I also learned lots of new things and was able to put meaning to some other things when it comes to dealing with energy. I highly recommend this book!! ~ Christina Blake (Reviewer), NetGalley
............I especially liked the section where the author speaks about Bhutan, a small country in Asia. The people there practice “the sanctity of life and extend this to all that is”. In this country cigarettes and plastic are banned, goods are wrapped in paper or cloth, 80% of the population are organic farmers using no herbicides. All animals roam free, returning nightly for food and shelter. There is no electricity; they use solar panels. Even so, they still have poverty, they lack educational advantages and good health care needs, yet they are joyful, caring and helpful..... ~ Faith S Michael (Reviewer) , NetGalley
I recommend this book to everyone interested in a new paradigm for the Western mind, especially as we come to terms with the global culture in which we live, and the various types of human beings that come with it. We may never truly understand why, for example, a person becomes a terrorist and perpetrates unspeakable violence on other human beings. But The Energetic Dimension will help us recognize the common humanity that we share even with those individuals who shock our sense of decency, oneness, and compassion. ~ Tom Cowan, Author and Shamanic Practitioner
Ann Drake is a gifted and marvellous shamanic practitioner and teacher. In The Energetic Dimension she gifts us with a wealth of wisdom as to how our karma from previous incarnations and the relationships with our ancestors impacts our health and well-being on all levels. Ann shares with us her protocols and case studies for working with ancient practices that she has brilliantly adapted to heal the traumas of our times. I was so inspired by the work Ann shared in this timely book. The Energetic Dimension has critical work we all need to focus on to regain a state of balance in our lives. This is a must read! ~ Sandra Ingerman, award winning author of Soul Retrieval and The Book of Ceremony: Shamanic Wisdom for Invoking the Sacred Into Everyday Life
Having known of Ann Drake’s healing work for decades I had always been impressed with its sheer effectiveness. I knew she had her shamanic training with a true Shaman in Malaysian Borneo and I was convinced that there we might find the source of her therapeutic success as a healer-psychotherapist. This books gives us insights into the underlying patterns that propelled her. Understandings emerging far outside the reaches of Western culture became an amalgam that makes her personal journey accessible to us all. It gives us pause to reflect upon the limits of the models with which we grew up that hold sway over our troubled Occidental culture. It provides a legitimate view from outside of the world within. A profound combination of Western and Non-Western theory transforms the healing process. Ann Drake offers many paths, many destinations, with a single goal. Here is the secret of her success as a practitioner of the ancient art of healing. Ann Drake sees pain with eyes of wisdom and compassion, prompting us to look into our family myths and see beyond cultural biases in order to liberate our inherent creative and loving capacities as humans. She points to a necessary evolutionary step toward embracing both intellect and intuition on the healing journey. ~ Marcy Vaughn, internationally known senior student of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche
