A reflection of the historic, mythological, spiritual and metaphysical founding of Rome. Such a significant even in the history of much of western civilisation boiled down to one decision by a mighty shewolf not to eat the twin babes in front of her. I have studied and respected the ancient world for many years. Yet my understanding of the Roman and Greek pantheons I thought complete has been expanded. I honestly never considered the Shewolf of Rome as a member of such a divine grouping. I never considered her a goddess. Rachel S Roberts has deepened my knowledge and given me a new perspective to consider the Roman pantheon. And its relevance to life today cannot be understated. The journey through the cave that Romulus and Remus undertook is echoed in such stories as Zeus and his birth and even Jesus Christ and his resurrection. We all face the cave sometime in our life. We all go through it and with the guidance of such energy as Lupa we should see the other side and be better for it. Pick this book up, give it a read and hopefully you get even half as much out of it as I did. ~ L, Amazon
Before reading this I only had a passing knowledge of Lupa - but now I feel like I have a deeper understanding of her, and her history. Roberts does an amazing job of bringing history to life in this book, drawing the reader in quickly. I was fascinated to learn the history and more of the mythos surrounding Lupa, and by the time I reached the section on how to connect with the goddess and honor her, I felt like I knew her fairly well. (If you should want to do further research on your own, there’s a great bibliography included as well). The final chapter, which is about honoring and connecting with the goddess, has a lot of helpful information and some ritual incantations you can use as a starting point. Highly recommend! ~ Liliyana, Amazon.com
Through Rachel’s words, The Sacred She-Wolf drew me into Her energy, and I could feel Her around me as I read more and more about Her origins, stories and traditions, coming out of the other side of the book with a newfound understanding and a love of the fierce energy that is Lupa! It is of paramount importance that we stand together to bring these ancient stories of the Divine Feminine back into the world. Thank you for your offering, Rachel, a vital read. ~ Kat Shaw, artist
Rachel brings the story of Romulus and Remus into divine perspective, focusing her attention instead on Lupa, the She-Wolf that they suckle from. This book has opened my eyes to 'what came before' the beginning of Rome and strikes a chord with my understanding of the inherent 'Mother Goddess' that roamed BEFORE the patriarchy and in a time when both woman and men had equal status. A great read with insightful guidance for those wishing to deepen their relationship with Lupa. ~ Melonie Syrett, 'The Drum Woman'
Through her heartfelt, playful prose Rachel unlocks deep echoes of primal remembering rarely felt. This is divine feminine soul retrieval at its best! I am so proud of her! ~ Katie Holland, creator of Awakened Belly Dance
