Have you ever had an epiphany, and in the blink of an eye good became evil or evil became good? Well in John H K Fisher’s new novel, “Blink of an Eye,” that was released by Collective Ink/Cosmic Egg Books on June 28, 2019, that is exactly what happened. Fisher’s first novel, “Blink of an Eye,” follows the experiences of Hamasa, from war-torn Taliban territory in Afghanistan to an escape to Canada. However, the freedom to find and explore his truth was short-lived.

After falling madly in love with Nayana, an East Indian Sikh beauty, he was whisked off back to Afghanistan: into the clutches of his terrorist grandfather’s empire and ideologies. His journey back to his lover’s embrace in Canada is fraught with impediments, family secrets, betrayals, espionage, and murder. His only hope to escape death in prison lies in newly found documents, found alongside Dead Sea scrolls. Being an Al-Queda operative ironically lands him at the feet of a spiritual master who bestows great powers on Hamasa. However, he soon wonders if it was a gift from God or the desperate measures of an alien.

Listen below to an amazing interview discussing the influence of Blink of an eye - Aliens, God and a matrix like construct.

John H.K. Fisher is a musician, a retired High School teacher, and a truth seeker. He is a singer-songwriter who also plays piano, flute, and guitar, and has released two albums, “Love Prevails” and “The Gift”. “Blink of an Eye,” is his first novel.

John has been performing since he was thirteen. His dedication led him to the University of British Columbia, where he earned a Bachelor of Music, and then on to working with some of Vancouver’s top performers and groups as a flutist, pianist, and vocalist. His first writing and production effort earned him honors at the Cannes Amateur Film Festival for the soundtrack to the film “No Entry.” His accomplishments include performances across Canada, the USA, Europe, and the Far East. John’s song “You made my Night” hit the Top 100 charts internationally and his song “City of Darkness” hit the top 100 charts in Canada. John is now focused on getting his music published, recorded and placed in film and television. He is currently performing in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

John has always been a seeker of truth, which led him to study all religions and eventually brought him to India in a quest to learn and re-experience amazing, life-changing, spiritual awakenings he had as a teenager. His quest to merge his soul with God’s took a dark turn when new spiritual experiences did not seem to move him closer to his goals but rather emphasized his shortcomings.

Similarly, the protagonist from his book “Blink of an Eye,” Hamasa's journey from war-torn Afghanistan to Canada, from boyhood to wise old soul, from innocence to terrorist to humanist, exposes the truths of existence. The story starts near the end as the protagonist, Hamasa, is being interrogated as a suspected terrorist. His life flashes into view as the reader is taken on a journey from the innocence of his youth in Afghanistan, awakening into romance, love, and adulthood in Canada, to being a seeker of universal truth and discovering secrets that rewrite mankind’s history. A profound spiritual experience leads him to make the journey back home to a land ravaged by war. The plot is complex, filled with twists, turns and hidden depths: a journey for truth.

I liked it. It kept me reading. Each page drew me deeper. I found it interesting that Hamasa was recruited to infiltrate camps to find information. He claimed to have no choice. He meets Nayanna and decides that is who he wants in his love life. So he must fight for her. It does make you wonder how people get recruited into ISIS. That is why I thought it was a book about terrorism and espionage, but it wasn't entirely. It was about belief, world peace and health, as well as terrorism, strife, war and misery. Equal balance. A form of utopia... I recommend the book as a good read. - Nicole Harmon (Reviewer) | NetGalley
