Twenty years ago, The Reiki Sourcebook revolutionized the Reiki community with its comprehensive coverage of the history, practice, and philosophy of the system of Reiki. It meticulously tracks every significant aspect from the system’s inception in early 1900s Japan to the West and back to Japan. This anniversary edition celebrates the depth of research and clarity that this book has brought to the Reiki community. With an introduction for beginners and a chronological history that answers questions like Where did the attunement process come from? and Which hand positions are correct?, these pages explain and illustrate techniques from both Japan and the West.
This is the definitive manual for anyone with a particular interest in the system of Reiki, Japanese healing practices, or a more general interest in complementary health. Reiki authors and teachers Bronwen Logan and Frans Stiene, co-founders of the International House of Reiki, have worked with the system of Reiki and conducted research on its Japanese origins across Europe, Asia, North America, Australia, and Japan. Bronwen, who now resides in the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia, has since launched her own initiative, Reiki with Bronwen, to further explore and teach the practice. Frans has returned to his roots and teaches from his hometown of Haarlem in the Netherlands. Together, they continue to share their extensive knowledge and experience with Reiki practitioners worldwide.

Believe me when I say that this incredible book covers an enormous amount of material about Reiki and for someone with no background in this healing method art, I personally found it completely immersive; but, at times, also a lot of the material somewhat difficult to grasp. Like any martial or cultural art, one needs a teacher to fully explain the details of a subject. Nevertheless, I did find this book very interesting and informative and have taken it under my wing as becoming my brand new coffee table book for others to enjoy. This book is (now) organized into six parts. Part I (Approaching Reiki) covers the meaning of Reiki, treatments and Reiki courses to achieve mastery. Part II (Reiki Past) focuses on the many details concerning historical facts, Mikao Usui’s teachings, Reiki in Japan, Reiki in the west, characteristics of Reiki branches and scientific studies on Reiki. Part III (Reiki Present) explains Japanese and Western Reiki techniques currently in play today and how they can help you in their most varying of manners and ways. Part IV is entitled Reiki Future, Part V is entitled Reiki Techniques, the final Part VI being that of Directory. Simply put, if you are just curious or even heavily into Reiki, this is a book you should check out. The history of Reiki alone is worth the price of the book, but now having been expanded for this 20th Anniversary Edition, well, it is a joy to behold from start to finish. ~ Anne Carlini - Exclusive Magazine , https://annecarlini.com/ex_books.php?id=726
This is THE comprehensive resource you need to truly understand the system of Reiki from its origins in Japan. ~ Carrie Varela
This is one of the most important and essential book investments that a Reiki practitioner of any level simply must have in their Reiki book collection. I have the first two editions and for 20 years they have assisted me to empower my students to seek and strengthen their own Reiki journey. This book is one of the extreme few that can give you answers before you even think of the question. It is an excellent research tool due to its Reiki ‘styles’ lineages, descriptions of them and historical evolution. The Appendices section is also extremely useful. The other excellent thing about this book is that it is written in a way that does not use confusing language or jargon terms that you would need a linguistics degree to understand – it encompasses one of Usui’s practices to ‘keep things simple’. I highly recommend the Reiki Sourcebook to all. ~ Travis Mills
The Reiki Sourcebook was one of the first books I read on my journey of reiki many years ago, and what a shining diamond of a book it was and still is. Equally perfect for those just starting on their journey and those who have been practising for years, there is so much information and knowledge shared without feeling bogged down and out of ones depth. Simply a joy of a book and one you will keep referring back to time and time again. ~ Christine Adams
I bought this book in 2012 along with Japanese Art Of Reiki. It was when I taught my first-ever Reiki class. It helped me at that time to delve into the world of Reiki, which I wasn't aware of or knew of. It clarified a lot of my misconceptions and helped to lay stepping stones for my future in the Reiki journey. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to know how traditional Reiki is compared to the knowledge and ideology of modern and Western Reiki. It will help to understand better and explore them with better clarity and understanding of Reiki to get them grounded in their Reiki Journey. ~ Seema Sahoo
