.....The Powers of the Sixth Sense is an excellent read with real life examples and solutions. If you're looking for a good safety book that encourages positive solutions and not fear mongering, than the Powers of the Sixth Sense is for you. ~ Women's Self-Defense Institute
Superbly written from the heart of a true warrior! Jock Brocas has done more than just write a book, he has mapped out a personal safety plan for all by using sound principles used in the security industry. As a former law enforcement officer, private investigator, juvenile corrections officer and security consultant, I know sound safety and security principles and Jock Brocas has done a superb job covering the bases without a lot of fluff found in so many text books on the subject. ~ Dr. John C. Powers of the sixth sense – how to remain safe in a hostile world – Jock Brocas Jock Brocas is a professional Psychic medium and has studied and practiced the art of the Ninja and Samurai for 26 years. He was a professional bodyguard to royalty and diplomats of many countries working in hostile locations all over the world. He is also an exorcist, studying this side of spirituality within the Catholic Church when he was in a seminary as a young man. Jock’s book Powers of the sixth sense – how to remain safe in a hostile world, is a book that merges physical self-defense with spiritually and intuition, creating guidelines for survival of mind, body and soul. This book appeals to the men, which many other spiritual or mediumistic books may not; it speaks from an objective point of view and relates to life experiences that most men don’t often acknowledge, but usually can relate to if asked. By talking about the ‘mode’ that racing car drivers, pilots and marshal artists and the like, visit when they move beyond the normal five senses in survival mode, it becomes easier to understand the sixth sense. Whereas, speaking about psychic ability, healing or ghosts may seem abstract by comparison. Jock Brocas is well qualified to talk about the sixth sense as an important aspect of being human, having used his own ability countless times to save himself and others from injury and even death. Because of his military background he gains respect from the masculine domain, yet through the balancing influence of his mediumistic wife, he points out the benefits of embracing and supporting the intuitive feminine aspect without fear of ridicule. From my perspective, using marshal arts and combat training to enhance psychic potential, compares to my using art for the same end; it offers something objective for logical thinkers to get their teeth into and helps people to be more comfortable with their ability to move outside the box! Reading this book will provide both men and woman with practical common sense and streetwise ways of staying safe, especially when out and about in the world today. It will encourage and empower the reader to ‘tune in’ and take notice of the sixth sense, which will provide all the extra advantages possible from being the multi-sensory human beings we already are! G.L. Giles’ Review of Powers of the Sixth Sense: How to Remain Safe in a Hostile World and Other Articles by Jock Brocas “Sixth Sense Understanding of Circumstances and a General Understanding of the Law of Attraction and Other Equally-Important Universal Laws Combined with Concrete Applications†With all the hype around the Law of Attraction these days made popular by movies like The Secret, it may be easy, for some people, to be lulled into a false sense of security; I’ll admit to even being a bit Pollyanna-like for a while not so long ago, even though I’d been a metaphysical student long before the current feel-good movement erupted by my reading of books, like Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain well over a decade ago (which Jock Brocas also mentions to my delight in his book, Powers of the Sixth Sense), etc. It’s true that like attracts like, but there are other Universal Laws out there like the Law of Polarity which I believe Brocas identifies as “Non Judgmental Duality,†the Law of Cause and Effect, etc. It’s to his credit that Brocas presents some of the lesser-known (in mainstream society at least) Universal Laws that must be realized for personal safety, perhaps in that they balance the solely rose-colored-glasses-world- view that alarmingly some L.O.A. junkies have solely espoused. I don’t mean to inveigh against the Law of Attraction; it’s only foolhardy if you’re only studying the L.O.A. because then you won’t know “How to Remain Safe in a Hostile World†(which is the subtitle of Jock Brocas’ book Powers of the Sixth Sense). It’s not that you want to live in fear constantly either. Rather, as Brocas rightly points out: “It is not wrong to fear, but it is wrong to allow fear to take root in your soul†(p. 31). I frequently think of the acronym for the word F.E.A.R. as False Evidence Appearing Real. Yet, another’s malicious intent may not be “false evidence†either, so the situation may not always be so simplistically dealt with by saying to yourself that all fear is false. Some fear can be very real, as it’s sometimes “threats [already] manifest in thoughts†(p. 15 Powers of the Sixth Sense). So, Brocas tells you how to pay attention to what your Deep Intuition/Sixth Sense is saying to you via feelings, visions, etc. The feeling of fear is a warning and can veritably become real in the physical world as well if you’re not aware of the situation at hand. Therefore, it will only remain un-manifested sometimes if you can successfully thwart it or convert it in some way. As Brocas brilliantly points out: “Begin by understanding the emotional nature of fear---face it, feel it, then transmute it†(Powers of the Sixth Sense p. 31). By the way, The Law of Perpetual Transmutation is another Universal Law. In Brocas’ article entitled “The Domino Effect†he points out how “the chain reaction [of events] has begun.†And how you can be a positive influence on the people and events around you knowing this. To me, he’s really talking about the Law of Cause and Effect as he points out that “The domino effect is not a science but a truth that is as old as the laws of the universe.†I was also reminded of one of my favorite movies, “Pay It Forward,†while perusing “The Domino Effect,†so I suggest you check it out if interested in learning more of our human interconnectedness. Brocas also advocates living in the present moment as well by “Being aware of our surroundings, including information available through our subliminal sensitivities†(quote by Dale E. Graff in the “Foreword†of Powers of the Sixth Sense by Jock Brocas). This kind of being-fully-present-and-aware thinking has saved his life many times as he reveals in detail throughout his book. Brocas has had super high-risk professions such as “international security consultant†and “personal body guard for a variety of individuals including celebrities and high risk [themselves] business executives†(Graff p. 2). So, Brocas is proof- positive by even still being alive in this 4th dimension that his methods work! In addition, he’s well qualified to help us all be our own bodyguards by reading and applying what he suggests throughout Powers of the Sixth Sense. In conclusion, I keep thinking about what Lao-Tzu said about 2,500 years ago and Brocas is wise enough to utilize and hopes his readers will to: “The power of intuitive understanding will protect you from harm until the end of your days.†G.L. This book is exceptionally well written and has some unique perspectives on safety, especially being able to diffuse a situation while it occurs or before the event by using your natural intuitive ability. The way in which the author has integrated stories that people can use practically in their lives is excellent. This book is a lifeline for people and an important asset for the human race. ~ Tacy S. This is a very unusual book written by a very unusual person. Well worth reading, it sets you thinking on many levels. It is good to study different approaches as they help you to find the right way forward on your journey. ~ Tony Neate, SRF newsletter and the Buttercup Connections newsletter
This is a very unusual book written by a very unusual person. Jock Brocas is a professional psychic medium, a top security consultant and a teacher of the Japanese martial arts of the Ninja and Samurai. He describes how from very early in his life, he recognised a level of understanding in his approach to being. He became involved in protection duties with top people, including her Majesty the Queen Mother. Through this he began to realise the medium, as they are overshadowed by the spirits and feel the spirits’ emotions. Powers of the Sixth Sense should be required reading for anyone who wishes who work in this field, regarding of what approach they adopt. ~ Linda Williamson, Spirit Release Foundation Magazine
I was very excited to review this 189 page book on psychic self defense and a lot of other much needed lessons. I feel the author did an excellent job at pinpointing the abilities we all have and how and in what situations to use them. Many times I think we have a tendency to believe we can't do it for ourselves, and this guide was written so simply and compassionately that anyone who has the ability to follow directions and pay attention to their gut feelings can protect themselves and others. The format of this great teacher is wonderful because it shows through stories and examples how to combine your physical abilities with your internal ones to stop trouble many times before it even starts. I would recommend this definite hit to anyone who wants to feel safer in this sometimes very unpredictable world. Thanks, Jock it sure left me sleeping a lot easier. ~ Riki Frahmann, MysticLivingToday, Planetstarz
A good reference text and an easy read ~ David Moyle, New Connexion Magazine
Jock’s book discusses a subject that is a constantly on the minds of people all over the world today. In an ever increasingly uncertain time, keeping yourself and your loved ones safe from harm has become a necessity. An accomplished martial artist, Jock in his book seeks to arm the reader with the information and awareness to do that and to take the first steps on that path. I received this book this past summer and after several readings will attempt to present my thoughts on it. As I usually do, I will start with the "bad". I read several books every week, and most books of this type have a number of problems. My biggest complaint with the book, and complaint is too harsh a term, is that being a New York American and familiar with American-English, a very small number of the British-English terms used were unfamiliar, and the book uses British-English spellings. That was the biggest 'problem' that I found with the book. So, on to the good. The book is divided into 3 parts with a total of 15 sections, each one covering a specific area of concern. This is not your usual self-defense book, with photos of people doing martial arts, or diagrams on where to go and when. This is a book devoted to the idea that you posses an inborn voice that will warn you when you are at risk and that learning to listen to that voice can save your life. Throughout the book he shares his experiences in a friendly and inviting way. A fast and quick read, I often found myself re-reading his stories when I had a few minutes to fill in between appointments. Jock begins by discussing military training, his time as a bodyguard and his training in the Japanese arts of the Shadow Warrior, or Ninja, as well as setting forth his intent and goals for this book. The chapters in part 1 cover; Awareness of Your Surroundings; listening to your mind; home protection; business protection and protecting against kidnapping. Part 2 covers; risk appraisal and self defense, protection against abuse, rape prevention, and protection from terrorism. Part 3 covers; Security; your Sixth Sense; your personal space and training your Sixth Sense. Each section is further broken down, containing personal anecdotes, tons of information, and several exercises to help you grow. Through out the book, Jock explains that these are abilities that we all possess, and can develop. Using clear language, and a friendly writing style, Jock successfully accomplishes his goals and messages. In some sections, the feeling may seem a little alarmist to one used to a quieter existence. Those who travel the big cities, or the globe however will find that Jock not only recognizes their concerns, but has often personally encountered them and used these techniques to save himself from harm. If you are looking for a typical self defense book, or if the idea of trusting your gut is too foreign, or if "mystical mumbo jumbo" bothers you, this is probably not the book for you. If you are looking for an easy to read book, filled with useful information that you can use, and want to open yourself to a better ability to sense and detect dangerous situations and people before they can harm you, this is an excellent book, which I wholeheartedly recommend. I will be re-reading my copy repeatedly in the future. ======= Bob Hubbard is the owner of MartialTalk.com, one of the Internet's premier martial arts destinations.
