Carmen Turner-Schott, MSW, LISW is an author, licensed clinical social worker, psychological astrologer and teacher with national and international clientele. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1997. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1999. She is a published author and has written nine books. Her four newest books are Moon Signs, Houses & Healing: Gain Emotional Fulfillment & Resilience Through Astrology, Phoenixes & Angels: Mastering the Eighth & Twelfth Astrological Houses, Sun Signs, Houses & Healing: Build Resilience & Transform Your Life Through Astrology and The Mysteries of the Twelfth Astrological House: Fallen Angels.

Carmen has been researching the eighth and twelfth astrological houses and trauma, healing, and transformation for the past 25 years.

Carmen began her astrological work at 16 after an experience with a glowing ball of light in her doorway and began studying religion, metaphysics and the Edgar Cayce material at that time. She has presented astrology workshops for the Association of Research & Enlightenment (A.R.E.) throughout the years and teaches a variety of spiritual development classes. As a fellow astrologer and 12th house Sun, I've never felt so seen and understood by Carmen's research on the 8th and 12th houses in astrology.
A lot of astrologers have trouble explaining what both houses are about, I felt as Carmen hit the nail on the development of each planet on both houses. Her attention to detail and entertaining writing style with her own life examples, make this book a MUST for understanding and actually feeling the true meaning of the scorpio a pisces houses.

I have Venus (chart ruler), Uranus, and Neptune in the 8th house + moon and Mars in the 12th house.

I’ve been into astrology since I was a teenager and thought I knew my chart like the back of my hand… but I now realize I had done a classic 12th house thing and unconsciously avoided looking deeply into the houses in my chart because the information I read about the 8th house originally scared and overwhelmed me!

Now in my mid-30s it was validating to look at my 8th and 12th house placements and see how my life has played out in very clear alignment with these predictions. I also am married to a man with Sun, Mercury, and Jupiter in the 8th house as well as being a Scorpio rising with Pluto in the 1st house. I found the information in this book to be highly accurate for him as well! Some of it truly blew my mind.

In addition to the book helping me recognize and accept myself in totality it also validated my moon and Mars in the 12th feeling of not having parents. Though my parents are both alive and still married they were not emotionally available to me and I grew up without hugs, “I love you”s, or any attempts to see or understand me as I actually am. I’ve gone through cycles of anger and acceptance over and over but I now see that I will probably find the most peace by being the 12th house angel I am and having compassion for my emotionally stunted parents. For they simply do not know any other way and their very problem of emotional immaturity blocks them from the capacity to know another way. I see that part of my karma and mission is to be an orphan with parents and to develop my relationship with God.

I enjoyed this book- great title name. Comprehensive, informative and helpful. I liked some of the suggested relaxation meditations, one I did at a yoga class I went to for a few years and the teacher was a Scorpio. For myself, I was particularly interested in reading up on my placements in these houses. My North Node in Capricorn, 8th house intrigues me and I am a Scorpio moon. I look forward to reading more books by this author.
