Reflections - Beyond Thought: The Journey of a Lifetime Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

Reflections – Beyond Thought is a moving, often amusing, account of the author's personal journey. Struck by life-changing illness, she fights all that challenges her until forced to surrender and, in that moment, to hear answers to her lifelong quest as she learns not only the nature of her own suffering, but that of all mankind. The author reflects on more unusual events in her life. A profound spiritual experience whilst lost in the Norwegian mountains; the horrors and joys of giving birth in a public hospital in Kuwait and the isolation of the lonely seas whilst working as a ship’s nurse, are but a few – seemingly spun by the hand of unseen forces, to offer just another thread to the spiritual tapestry of life. Every story has its climax. Responding to an inexplicable moment of spontaneity the author moves from her Buckinghamshire home with all her animals to live in France. The real purpose of the re-location however, is only revealed as its truth illumes in the stillness of the forest…a story that will inspire and give hope to many.

This wonderful book takes us on a remarkable journey through chronic illness into physical and spiritual healing, a blessed voyage from fear and unbearable pain into peace, wisdom and unconditional love. Susan Sosbe was, as she puts it, a born healer, reaching out to heal others when only 4 or 5 years old. But she kept her talent a secret, and her abilities were revealed to others only in mid-life, in her talent for healing sick animals. Soon after this she is working on human cancer patients. As she says, the key to healing is “unconditional love, without which – healing on any level cannot take place. Love truly knows no boundaries, except for the limitation of the space that we ourselves provide for it to flow.”
Throughout the book, Sosbe’s voice exudes the wisdom of a highly evolved spiritual teacher sharing with us the fruits of her life’s search. As she says, “We are not all born to become great leaders or teachers, but we are all born with our own purpose to fulfil.” With this very special book, Susan Sosbe has surely taken a great step towards fulfilling her own divine purpose. I feel blessed to have enjoyed her remarkable story and her profound and well-grounded wisdom. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy and absorbing read.

This is a very easy read which holds the attention. This is particularly true of the early chapters where the author gives a reflective account of her life events. These are often challenging and approached with an apparent acceptance and understanding of the nature of experience. The later chapters, which address the difficulties of coping with ill-health show insight into the human condition and a belief in a spiritual journey. Many questions are raised which are not really answered. The reader is left asking from where this belief, knowledge or intuition comes, how does it manifest itself and, indeed, how does a person know a course of action is right or the journey complete. One might also ask how a small child knows she has the facility to heal and how this was managed. One cannot question the subjective experience of such matters, but there is so much more one would like to know. Perhaps the aim of this book is an introduction which could lead the reader to further examination of the core issues, in which case it has been achieved.

What a fascinating person, very spiritual and enlightening to read. Really recommend to anyone who has always felt a little 'out of it' and a little different (in a good way).
I now realise I too wasn't shy during childhood, just quietly observing too.
