Dennis Wheatley brought up to date with a liberal spicing of speculation about the nature of reality, quantum physics and parallel worlds. ...Highly recommended.
Herbie Brennan, New York Times best-selling author of Whisperers: The Secret History of the Spirit World.
Vasey combines ancient magic and quantum physics in a seamless picture of what reality might be and uses it as a theme to weave the devil of a story. It's a gripping and thought provoking ride. ~ Alan Richardson, Author of Magical Kabbalah and many other books...
The author has created a convincing world of magic, quantum and mind-blowing ideas in which to set an endlessly surprising adventure. ~ Gordon Strong, Author of Merlin: Master of Magic and many other books.
This is the kind of book that really keeps you up late, just trying to finish that proverbial "one more page!" as you fight vainly against the sandman. - Katelyn Hensel, Readers Favorites

About the authors
G. Michael Vasey is a collector of paranormal stories and a magician.
He writes paranormal books that will keep you awake at night, poetry that will make you question reality, and books on practical magic and shamanism. He grew up experiencing ghosts and poltergeists, studied and taught magic with a real school of hermetic sciences, and these days can be found in search of the Goddess in the forests and mountains of Czechia. He hosts a podcast series called The Magical World of G. Michael Vasey (https://podcasts.apple.com/cz/podcast/the-magical-world-of-g-michael-vasey/id1518198271) that looks at reality, magic and myth, blogs on substack (https://gmvasey.substack.com/) and vlogs on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCejbNlXAbDP8VylIkv2AmUw).
He has had numerous paranormal hit books with books like Chilling Tales of Black Eyed Kids, Your Haunted Lives, and My Haunted Life Too. He also touches on magic and the nature of reality with books like Chasing the Shaman, The New You, Inner Journeys, and The Mystical Hexagram (penned with Sue Vincent). He likes to splash words on canvas and has issued several volumes of compelling poetry like The Dilemma of Fatherhood and Reflections on Life.

I am always interested in a fun fantasy tale that pays homage to a strong imagination and a pure but vulnerable heart. This one was made even more fun by the references to Texas, in particular Houston, since that is my hometown. I thoroughly enjoyed the physics knowledge laced into the story and the occult references were light enough that I did not feel uncomfortable.
If you enjoy a story filled with good character development, good versus evil, pure hearts versus dark souls and unlikely heroes then this will be a book that will leave you looking forward to Mr. Vasey's next installment.
The protagonist, Stan, a reclusive bookworm, finds himself sought after, and literally pursued by both sides of a cosmic battle. Their target: a man whose inability to fit comfortably in the so-called real world brought out the full force of his imaginative talent, a gift that both shapes and defines reality. The observer/recluse is really the spinner of the world. Imagination is reality.
Stan's introduction to the unfamiliar occult world who has reached for his soul is rocky. The farther in he gets pushed, the more is unveiled, and the reader is invited to learn along with Stan the nature of that world, its values, and how to discern the motives and workings of the participants. His counterpart, Alison, is a naive and somewhat lazy seeker of the unseen who is drawn in by the wrong side and falls hard. Both have much to learn. And learn they do. Without giving away the plot twists I can at least venture to say that Stan emerges from the adventure wiser and a solid support to others in his newly cultivated field.
But enough of the Serious Stuff. Go read and enjoy.
I am not a scientist nor a metaphysical practitioner but I walk away from this book with a very good understanding of how you must have some Yin with your Yang. I appreciated that part of the story was set in my part of the world (Texas) and also in the UK where I have many good friends.
Loved the ending! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING and it worked! I think there was a little PKD in there!
I recommend.
His piercing blue eyes glared at the phone as he slid his impressive finger across the screen of the technological marvel which is how you answer an iPhone.
"Hello!" he impatiently bellowed. A strange, tinny voice echoed from the innards of the iPhone, of which James was using the iPhone 4S iteration.
"James you don't know me but you are in trouble. You must believe me! Meet me at the Old Gindevil Pub and I will explain all."

I am now 25 percent into "The Last Observer: A Magical Battle for Reality." That progress came from ten minutes of reading over a very messy burrito. I tell you that to let you know that this is a very light book. And yet lightness or heaviness does not determine the worth of a work of literature. The writing does, as well as the ideas therein.
Do you like mystery? The occult? Do you suspect that there is more to the world than meets the eye? Would you have instantly taken the red pill from Morpheus? Do you have more than a fifth grade education?
If the answers to any of these questions are "yes," then run like hell from this book.
On the other hand, if you enjoyed my initial few sentences above, a fairly accurate satire of what you'll find in G. Michael Vasey's book, then go ahead and drop the 99 cents. Oh, I apologize , the book is by Dr. G. Michael Vasey. This was my first clue, of course, that things were not going to go well. Always go with your first impression. Unless your book gives advice on how to avoid heart disease, don't use "Dr." on the cover.
But seeing eight 5-star reviews, the low cost of the Kindle edition, and the fact that this was in my "recommended" stream tricked me into buying this horrendous waste of zeroes and ones.
I can't imagine that the publisher, Roundfire Fiction, is one that is picky about its books. This simply has to be some sort of low-bar, vanity publisher. This book, apart from being poorly written, is clearly missing the touch of an editor. It seems a product of the self-published e-book age.
Are you a fan of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? If you are, I suspect you will hear his voice when you read this book in your head. I wager that if any of Marenghi's books were to be found, the writing would be very, very much like this.
This is Vasey's first book. It should have never made it out of his word processing application. You know how hundreds of thousands of little girls go to dance school, and eventually they have a recital? Well the sad truth is that 99 percent of them are terrible dancers and no one would want to pay to see them perform. Similarly, one must have the wisdom to be able to discern if a book is ready to publish. This one was not.

Way too short, at just over 100 pages, it takes a couple of chapters for Dr Vasey to find his voice (shame on the publisher for not assisting in this respect) but, once he does... do up your seatbelt and get prepared for a ride!
More than a few of the esoteric truths, which the evil Zeltan so desperately wants to protect, are worked into a fast paced romp across the English countryside, culminating in the most unexpected face off imaginable. Controversial ideas, which will prove hard to swallow, both in the scientific and in the magical camps, are woven into a storyline of considerable ingenuity.
Guaranteed to leave the casual reader wanting more, and the "magical reader" desperately flipping back, jaw agape... A must have addition to any esoteric library.
