Review

I wasn't sure what to expect when I began reading Daniela Norris' non-fiction offering On Dragonfly Wings. There were the usual expectations of grief turning into a series of visits to mediums, but I was quite pleased to find that my expectations were very off-course. Norris is eloquent, disciplined and dispassionate; she also sets out easy, step-by-step instructions for many of the topics she covers in this book. Norris' storytelling is enthralling and life-changing in the best possible way. I'm awed by this book and wholeheartedly recommend it. Reviewed by Jack Magnus for Readers' Favorite

Dragonfly Wings is filled with education, wisdom and hope for everyone who has lost a loved-one or needs information to heal their personal grief. Daniela Norris' journey has expanded her own life and will definitely inspire yours. The death of her brother is Daniela's spiritual gain. The ripple effect is that anyone who reads this book will be similarly blessed.
Lo Anne Mayer, author of Celestial Conversations: Healing Relationships After Death.

Enjoy a flight through the intriguing, profound and fundamental aspects of your being with this book. Your journey will be a fascinating exploration of what goes on within and beyond ourselves. As a consultant in mediumship, I would say it brings the subject to a wider audience in a relevant, no nonsense and demystifying way.
Rosemary H C Hudson BSc, Society of Women Writers and Journalists

On Dragonfly Wings may be the least threatening, most touching and thoughtful explorations of past-life regression a reader can experience. Starting with the death of her brother, Daniela Norris follows her heart to find what she already intuitively knows: We maintain connections with those we love who have gone before and we will meet again. Norris guides us toward our inner selves and helps us remember who we truly are.
Jim PathFinder Ewing, author of Reiki Shamanism: A Guide to Out-of-Body Healing and Conscious Food: Sustainable Growing, Spiritual Eating.

Based on the experiences of the author, upon the untimely death of her brother, it is a well-written and engaging story with plenty of evidence to give comfort to the bereaved.

About the Author

Daniela I. Norris, a former diplomat turned writer, lost her twenty-year-old brother in a drowning accident in May 2010. While feeling as much shock and grief as everyone else around her, she also felt something different. She felt that her brother Michael was not really gone. He was physically gone, but he was still around. That was when she embarked on a journey of learning and exploration, her very own skeptic's journey to mediumship. She lives near Geneva, Switzerland.

When her brother Michael died at the age of 20, Daniela Norris, the author, began to experience a dramatic change in the way she approached life. “Somehow, the spiritual side of me completely took over the ‘down to earth’ side, and as I had more and more experience of communicating with the world beyond ours, I also felt more and more detached from people around me, even from my very own body,” she explains, after pointing out that she had had some childhood experiences of a mystical or spiritual nature but had for the most part ignored those in her pursuit of adventure and excitement in the material world.

“In the months following Michael’s death, I found it easier to close my eyes and communicate with ghosts than to face the uncomfortable stares of people in town,” she continues. “...There was just this feeling of total comfort, of warmth, of a knowing that made it all better.”

In pursuing a more spiritual path, Norris, a former diplomat from Israel who now lives near Geneva, Switzerland, delved into past-life regressions, channeling, shamanism, and mediumship. She learned about spirit attachment, spirit midwifery, soul groups, and dowsing, developing to the point where she became a therapist herself, as well as a medium. “Spirit attachments became one of my favorite subjects to deal with as a therapist,” she writes, “and people who had spirit attachments released reported a newfound lightness in their lives, for these energies that did not belong with them often weighted them down and caused them to do things they did not necessarily intend to do.”

Over a period of about four years, Norris experienced a metamorphosis, one in which her connections with the Other Side made this life more meaningful and purposeful. “The magic of the journey is such that once one is no longer afraid to walk down this path – no matter how slow or how fast – the view on the way is stunning,” she ends the book. “Secrets unfold with every step and there is no need to prove anything to anyone – as each one of us walks at their own pace.”

The reader who is grieving the loss of a loved one or who is simply looking for the path leading toward a more meaningful life should find much to ponder on in this very interesting book.

A good many years ago I explored aspects of this field, pretty much assuming it could not have any validity. That’s an easy assumption if you take for granted that the mainstream minds must be right in Pooh- Pooh ing what they have never bothered to explore on their own. I did explore several avenues, much as the author did . This book proved to be an excellent look back over much that I had explored, and, written as it is, is a superb intro to the whole field of possibilities waiting to be awakened within us all. BY THE WAY we have carved a labyrinth in our back yard, a meditation/energy tool. We invite skeptical acquaintances to walk it. Before and after we use dowsing rods to compare the energy fields around them, without explaining the point. Most maybe all are astounded at the difference in energy fields around their bodies before and after. My point : if you don’t believe in « this stuff » then TRY it for yourself, and you might discover a whole new lens opening on reality.

Daniela Norris tackles a difficult topic stunningly well in "On Dragonfly Wings." Many people have separate faiths with regards to death and the afterlife, and Norris introduces us to hers with gripping emotion telling about her personal journey and experience. While I personally don't believe in reincarnation, my curiosity was piqued after reading this book. My eyes are now open to hypnotherapy thanks to the book and I have vowed to give it a try.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book, but I really wanted to read about what would move someone from skepticism about mediumship and "paranormal" experiences to training as a past life regression therapist. I empathized with the feelings she recounts during her training in various aspects of mediumship. Her desire for "hard evidence" combined with her willingness to fully immerse herself in the training activities and experiences were convincing to me.
Rather than write about the details of the book, I want to focus on how the book made me feel. First, I felt connect to Daniela as she embarked on this quest for both experience and understanding. The connection is not based on similar experiences because I have not had them, but instead, it is based on her approach to learning something new and, perhaps, changing her life because of it. It is the openness to the experience that I related to. Second, the narration is so straight forward and down-to earth that I could easily follow along without feeling like I was getting into a realm that was too "out there" or "mystical." I add this because I think that some readers might not read this wonderful book because the title includes the word mediumship. Those who choose not to read it will be missing out on a book that can bring comfort to those who are grieving the lost of a loved one, even if they do not buy into all the rest of it. For those who are open to thinking about things in a different way, Norris's account of her experiences can be the catalyst for a spiritual journey. Either way, I highly recommend this book.

Daniela I. Norris has created a lasting gem with this book. She crafts an artful story that is as absorbing as it is easy to read. I started it Friday night and finished Saturday afternoon. Captivating and practical. She brings light to an experience that is often shrouded in mystery. Throughout she weaves "How To's" so that any reader can easily practice simple forms of communicating with the unseen realms.

This book has impacted me deeply... perhaps a life changing experience. I look forward to more work from Daniela and am grateful she had the courage to share this personal and touching journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rapid-fire introduction to the world of the spirits – intense and personal
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on June 1, 2014
This riveting book reads like a thriller, and it’s an engrossing introduction to the spiritual world of reincarnation, eternal souls, past-life encounters, hypnosis, meditation, shamans, dowsers, mediums, pendulums, auras and energy fields.

Interwoven is the touching story of a woman who discovers her personal path after the death of her younger brother. It all starts when she realises the brother is present right next to her in the days after his passing.

Tragic death gives way to the glorious birth of a third, unexpected child. The story unfolds like an ancient mythical cycle of death and renewal.

This book is pacey – you read it in one sitting. It’s down-to-earth (yes, really), informative and intensely moving. A complete success.
